Let's face it, sports exhaustion or injuries can be really difficult to heal, even after ten long years. Old injuries that seemed to have recovered on the surface (with declaration from the doctor) but still occasionally gives you problems, new injuries that took you weeks and months to recover and impedes your athletic progress or simply, constant exhaustion from trainings that never seem to go away and you can't better your performance. Sounds familiar?

Reiki is a gentle and non-intrusive complementary therapy using the hands which works with the athlete’s natural healing ability and compresses the healing curve, boosting the overall wellness of the body, recovery rate and restoring the balance of natural energy.

Many professional sportsmen have incorporated Reiki into their lifestyles, such as  the NBA basketballers,  competitive runners, martial artists, Rugby players, NFL footballers and even Yogis have shared that incorporating Reiki healing sessions into their regular fitness routine, have given them visible tangible and intangible results, boosting their performance. Reiki is a perfect complement to even any forms of treatment the athlete may be undergoing as there is no interference, be it physiotherapy, sports massages, western or eastern traditional medicine.

Famous Health Expert, Dr. Oz, heartily approves and suggests Reiki to many clients, from those wishing to lose weight, to anyone else who is sincere about pursuing a healthy lifestyle. His wife, Lisa Oz is a Reiki Master Teacher and comments about the increasing popularity of Reiki by saying, “The next wave of medical advances will be when we come to recognize the body as an energetic system.”

In one New York Times article, Jerry Kelly, a two-time PGA Tour winner, shares his experience about the shoulder pain he was suffering from: “The two bones were rubbing against each other. I was going to have surgery the next week. I did five (Reiki) sessions that week and it was the best I had felt on a golf course in over a year. When I went in for the pre-op for the surgery, there was a space between the bones of the AC joint and I didn’t need the surgery anymore.”

For athletes, Reiki is a wonderful and supportive training aid. It can be used at any time and place for immediate and direct pain relief to sports injuries, soothe mental and emotional nerves before high-pressure events to boost confidence, release stress and increase energy levels. The deep relaxation experienced during a reiki treatment provides a perfect regenerative, reinvigorating and restful effect on the targeted areas, resulting in a speedier recoveries. Regular sessions may also help prevent old injuries from recurring and reduce the magnitude of possible future injuries which may at times affect an athlete's career.

From a scientific viewpoint, Reiki works on an electromagnetic level where it seems to electromagnetically ‘jump-start’ the body’s own healing process by producing changes in vibrational frequency, stimulating changes in the body on all levels, be it physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. Reiki brings the body to a deeply restorative state, where breathing becomes relaxed and deeper enabling oxygen to reach the vital organs and cells. Circulation is improved and blockages are cleared for the targeted areas so energy may flow freely and smoothly.

Reiki helps you better prepare for the outputs, both mentally and physically (before a race or important meetings) and balances the body.

Who is this suitable for?

Anyone can try Reiki healing, be it whether you have a. rigorous fitness routine (e.g. professional or competitive athlete, trainer, school teams) or just someone who just started incorporating movement into your life (e.g. weekly Zumba classes etc.) . There are no requirements, no religious or spiritual bias and there are no repercussions to this neutral and gentle healing art.

For those who work in specialised activity areas such as heavy machinery and you have a targeted injury or area to focus on, this will also be suitable for you.

How is this different from the 'General Balancing' session?

This is a targeted healing session, where 75-100% of the entire session duration will be focused on your targeted area, or as intuitively when another area of your body prompts for Shin to channel Reiki to it. All sessions offered under this aspect are for face-to-face only; no distance Reiki is offered, unless requested and only considered on a case-by-case basis per individual.

A note on Detox:

For most people, a Reiki healing session results in feelings of calmness and peace and a general improvement in their symptoms.  However, it must be cautioned that in a minority of cases the body needs to detox in order for proper healing to take place.  This is especially true if the body has been neglected, or the issues have been ignored or suppressed for a long time. This is an important point to note as detox can sometimes produce uncomfortable symptoms such as headaches, stomach upsets, aches and pains, tingling in limbs, stiffness, rash or skin inflammation, heightened emotions or emotional releases.  Detox symptoms of course are rare, and are a natural process of the body healing.  These symptoms are a great sign (better out than in!) that the body is releasing toxins that could otherwise cause disease later on.

A minimum of 3 sessions are strongly recommended for sportsmen or individuals with specialised activity. This process of 3 successive treatments is specifically designed to ensure any detox is supported through the Reiki treatments and the shift happens as smoothly and quickly as possible.
